Today, July 3rd, we started off the day with slalom. When we arrived at the top on the mountain, we noticed we were above the clouds. We also experienced a change in climate from the past few days. A cool breeze made it cold on the chairlift, and the wind was screaming in our ears. Our lovely coaches set 9 drill courses for us to work on our technique. At first, not all of the groups jumped right into the gates. Some of us were still adjusting to slalom skis by the time we finished our three warm up runs. Some groups worked on keeping our hands up, and some worked on making slow, precise turns. As a result, everyone had a productive morning. Once we got back to the cabins, we got ready to take a hike on Mirror Lake. The view of Mt. Hood was breathtaking. Some of us swam in the beautiful water. When we got back to camp, we had a nice All-American dinner of hamburgers and chicken sausages. Our beloved camper, Sophia Bastek, departed from camp, and everyone was sad to see her leave. Tomorrow will be the last day of skiing for those only staying for first session. Everyone has been ripping up Mt. Hood and can’t wait to shred in the next session.
